Internation Dub Convention #4

We are excited to announce that INTERNATIONAL DUB CONVENTION is finally back after a two year break! The event will be held on Friday 2nd March 2018 in a contemporary art centre " Meet factory" in Prague and features famous UK Dub projects.

This time you can expect artists of two musical schools from Bristol, representing two different generations of the Dub sound.

From the older generation you can expect one of the leading names in roots and Dub music, duo DUBKASM. Established in 1994, comprises of DJ Stryda and Ben Digistep, who have become well known worldwide following for their brand of Reggae and Dub music since launching their own Sufferah's Choice label. DJ Stryda has been active on the FM broadcasting since 1996, helping keep roots music alive in Bristol by presenting his regular event "Teachings in Dub" where he invites local and international guests such as Aba Shanti I, Iration Steppas, OBF, Mungos HiFi and various Dubstep names such as Mala, Kahn, Goth Trad, Pinch etc. Ben Digistep is a saxophonist and a music producer. Their first album "Transform I", strongly influenced by his stay in Brazil, is a mixture of Dub and Brazilian instruments and rhythms, which has been released in remix versions by other leading Dubstep producers. The Sufferah's Choice stands out from other labels as they work so closely with artists from diverse music scenes, primarily in a field of contemporary experimental electronic music. So far their biggest success has been a dubplate "VICTORY!", exclusively produced for Aba Shanti I, released in 2013.

The younger dub generation will represent reggae and Dub project GORGON SOUND, comprising of two producers KAHN and NEEK, who are one of the biggest names on the Dubstep and grime scene. Their typical heavyweight and industrial sound is created by combining elements of Dub and experimental dance music. Their music production is published on their own label Bandulu records, but they also releaseing tunes on other labels like Deep Medi, Moonshine Records and Peng Sound. They have shot to fame after releasing their single „Find Jah Way“, in 2012, which was the most played record of that year. In Prague, Gorgon Sound will represent by DJ NEEK.

IDC's main aim is to connect the concept of sound system DIY culture and community with aspects of contemporary audio - visual art. The visual atmosphere of the space will be created by visual artist Jan Hladil from the multimedia crew Lunchmeat. As previously, BLACK DIAMOND SOUND SYSTEM will provide high quality heavy weight sound, powered by other supporting RAGGAULTRAS SOUND SYSTEM. There also won't be a shortage of local talents in the line up, such as RIDDIM TUFFA, representing the new album „Deh Yah“ and a leading crew of dub artists from Prague; UNITED FORCES OF DUB.
