M.E.S.H.
(DE)
James Whipple
a.k.a. M.E.S.H. is with fellow American expatriace Lotic a co-founder of Berlin
club night Janus. His initial releases combined the jagged beats of U.K. grime
and garage with dubby textures and a sense of meticulous sound design common to
IDM producers such as Autechre, resulting in a sound and aesthetic occasionally
referred to as “post-Internet.” His debut full-length,Piteous Gate, is a bold step forward, leaving behind much of the
dance-informed elements of his previous work and creating an unpredictable,
sometimes frightening album of dark, theatrical soundscapes.

KABLAM
(SE/DE)
DJ and producer
Kajsa Blom a.k.a. KABLAM was born by the Swedish west coast and moved to Berlin
in 2012. She started her career as a DJ, as one of the residents of Berlin’s
Janus party alongside co-residents Lotic and M.E.S.H. Janus is now a label and
has held parties at Berghain and booked producers and DJs Arca, DJ Hvad, Total
Freedom, Nigga Fox and more. As a DJ, she manipulates digital tracks, taking
advantage of the advanced possibilities offered by CDJs. She likes to play and
mix contrasting genres, finding imaginative points of entry and combinations
between them, using the parameters of space rather than time to structure the
music. The Fader named her one of ”20 musicians you need to know about in
2016”.

Why Be (DK/DE)
Tobias Lee a.k.a. Why Be is a
Korean-born and Berlin and Copenhagen-based producer and DJ who swims in the same stream as Total
Freedom and the Janus crew. He views electronic music as a potentially
destructive force against the status quo, and does almost nothing
conventionally, from his DJing to the way he releases music. Snipestreet is an important
milestone in his career: it marks both the first time he's tried his hand at
original productions and his first official EP, released by label Halcyon Veil.

TOLE
(DE/CE)
TOLE aims to create
compositions rather than tracks, force rather than melody, and shifting details
rather than clear patterns. The music project of Berlin and Prague-based visual
artist Martin Kohout, TOLE combines ideas from his artistic practice and
research with his own recordings and production.

The shows of M.E.S.H., KABLAM and TOLE are supported by the 2016 SHAPE platform,
co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
