Open Studios

Thursday, 26 October will be the last chance to visit the studios of MeetFactory residents during the Open Studios event. During a guided tour, curator Piotr Sikora and curators Kateřina Pencová and Tereza Havelková will present the work of artists from Denmark, Israel, Ukraine, Finland and Senegal.

Fotograf Festival | Make Voices Be Heard: Chapter Four at MeetFactory Gallery and Une solitude vraiment terrible by the artist duo Angélique Aubrit & Ludovic Beillard at Kostka Gallery. DJs Mor Wen and New Magic Media will play at the end of the evening.

The studios of the residents will be open from 19:00 to 23:00. Admission is free. 

Amalie Sveske Ourø: Performing/Becoming Landscape | performance
Performing/ becoming landscape is a scenic video-performance installation that explores the human relation to nature and to the landscape. Often we want to separate humans from nature and what we call natural, but in this work the artist Amalie Sveske Ourø leans into their strong conviction that humans are nature, and so, belong in the landscape. In Becoming/performing landscape Sveske presents a break from the human struggle and instead aims to blend into the idyllic scenery, connect with more than human entities and simply celebrate the wonder of earth.

How can one recreate the sound of the river without water?
The installation will be activated through live performance where the artist Sveske Ourø will recreate sounds of nature. Mimicking the sounds of the landscape becomes both playful linking to childhood games but also an act of appreciation for the many layers of nature.

Miradonna Sirkka: Nonstop Paradise | performance
Nonstop Paradise is an interdisciplinary project consisting of video exhibition, performance and written publication. In the Open Studios Miradonna will share a short part of work in progress performance among the video installations of the upcoming project.

Nonstop Paradise, relentlessly strives towards paradise, gradually examining and deconstructing the image of paradise. Initially, paradise appears to be a naively idyllic vacation spot, but upon closer investigation, it reveals the unsustainability of the Western way of life. Beneath the hedonistic escapism lies a deep need for connection. The works explore the internal stream of consciousness as reflected in interpersonal and intimate encounters, particularly focusing on feelings of awkwardness in actions and interactions.

Urban Space Epics | performance
A project founded by Darrell Jónsson, poet, programmer and performer in 1980. His aim is to combine experimental film techniques of the 20th century with innovative music and monumental vocal accompaniments to create a so-called live, technically permeable cinema.
