IDM meets shoegaze meets ambient electronica. Seefeel's long overdue Prague premiere is set for March, supported by Jakub Šimanský

The beginnings of Seefeel date back to the early 90s when guitarist Mark Clifford, drummer Justin Fletcher, bassist Darren Seymour and vocalist Sarah Peacock started playing together as a fairly conventional British rock band. With their successful full-length debut Quique, they were quickly lumped in by the music press with the shoegaze sound of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Ride, and Slowdive.

With their passion for electronica, ambient, samplers and looping, their rejection of conventions and collaborations with Aphex Twin, Seefeel's sound began to move into more abstract and atmospheric realms on subsequent recordings. This brought releases on Warp (including the second LP
Succour) and Rephlex, as well as gigs with the pioneers of experimental electronics such as Autechre and µ-Ziq.

In 2024, the project returned as a duo consisting of Clifford & Peacock with brand new Seefeel material. Mini-album Everything Squared, a delicately balanced mix of hypnotic ambient and dubby electronica with echoes of slo-mo post-rock and shoegaze, was a success with fans and critics alike. Seefeel are following it up with another set of tracks titled Squared Roots and a European tour that will see them play at Rewire Festival and MeetFactory among other great venues and festivals, presenting their exclusive live AV show. The band currently tours (except for the show in The Hague) as a duo consisting of Mark Clifford and drummer Dan Conway.

"In the ’90s, Seefeel evolved through shoegaze and post-rock to create their own unsettling brand of ambient dub. Breaking a 13-year hiatus, they’re still finding new magic in old tricks." — Pitchfork

Guitar prodigy Jakub Šimanský is joining the bill, celebrating the release of his third solo album What Do You Mean By That?. Šimanský's singular style of playing draws from american primitivism, while his approach to rhythm and melody and varying tuning systems build on the tradition of Czech folk or Eastern music. After almost a decade of playing in the noise-rock band UNNA, he made his solo debut in 2016 with Face to Face Against American Primitivism in Eastern Europe Vol. 1 released on Stoned to Death Records. Volume 2 followed three years later on Full Moon Forum.

The concept for his third solo record What Do You Mean By That?, releasing digitally in mid-March, is based on a selection of recycled instrumental ideas that ultimately weren't used in the works of Šimanský Niesner. It's a careful selection from dozens of recordings collected over the last 8 years on Jakub's mobile phones, featuring a vibrant mix of rhythms, non-standard tunings and unconventional compositions.
