Maëlle Magnin-Feysot (b. 1996, France) lives and works in Strasbourg. She primarily works in painting but also self-publishes her texts, which are sold at independent publishing festivals. Additionally, she creates sculptures and works with textiles.
She describes her paintings as contemporary still lifes or as quiet, secret imaginary spaces—a mysterious world filled with objects and shapes.
Her editorial projects, on the other hand, are more rebellious, blending personal experiences with feminist themes. She has successfully managed to let these two areas coexist, allowing them to inspire and nourish one another.
Since 2021, she has been creating artistic workshops for children and adults. She also serves as a guide and mediator for the Franco-Slovenian project Garden GoRound at Apollonia—European Artistic Exchanges in Strasbourg.
Her residency at MeetFactory will be her first residency project.
RESIDENCY PROJECT – The dinner of the absent ones/women warrior’s diner
“Elles disent qu’elles savent qu’ensemble elles signifient” / “They say that they know what they mean together.”
Monique Wittig, Les guerrillères (1969), Les éditions de minuit, Paris, 2022
Maëlle’s research project seeks to reinterpret Czech myths and legends by placing strong female figures—whether from fiction or history—at the forefront, aiming to make their names visible and amplify their voices. Building on this research, she plans to utilize a variety of plastic media to design an installation that symbolizes these often-overlooked figures, incorporating intricate details to give them presence and honor.
In essence, she is on a mission to uncover the stories of Czech women warriors and prepare a grand banquet to celebrate them.
Date of residence: 07.04.2025 – 07.07.2025
