Natalia Różycka (b. 1998, Łódź, Poland) in her artistic practice is focused on a queer story of her home-town Lodz, Poland. It inspires her main medium of choice (half transparent paints used on plexiglass, fake stained-glass paintings that she calls Witrażex), content and camp aesthetics of works. She also works with sculpture and rhyme text.
In some ways, she replaces institutions uninterested in that topic and a patriarchal methodology of research. She takes the position of artist-archivist, almost archaeologist, by gathering histories, describing places and people, and giving them space to be heard and seen.
Date of residency: 1.03 – 21.03.2025
RESIDENCY PROJECT
Natalia’s project at MeetFactory explores the naturist movement in Poland and the Czech Republic. The main inspiration for this research is the theory that the naturism movement contributed to a better flow of information within the gay community. After 1989, naturist spaces started to disappear in Poland, but they could still be found in the Czech Republic.
