Tamsir Daouda Soumaré (b.1999, Nîmes, France) primarily explores the theme of Afrofuturism, which involves an imaginative and forward-looking rewriting of the history of African and Afro-descendant populations. This vision incorporates concepts such as spirituality, technology, mysticism, and often overlooked or marginalized African mythologies. For Tamsir, these elements are ways to reinvent a future where Black identities reclaim their past while projecting alternative narratives that celebrate African cultural richness.
These ideas are expressed in various domains, such as art, literature, and music, which play a central role in Afrofuturism. In his case, Tamsir brings this vision to life through painting, immersive installations, and artistic performances. During these performances, he embodies Afrofuturism by reading poems or singing, often drawing inspiration from African myths and legends. His work seeks to merge the ancestral past with an imagined future.
