The Artists-in-Residency Programme has long been involved in European cooperation through projects supported by the Creative Europe programme. In the context of multi-year projects, we act as coordinator or partner, and in addition to providing residencies for foreign artists, we are actively involved in the development of extensive accompanying programmes. In this way, we contribute not only to enriching the activities of our partner institutions abroad, but also to fulfilling the vision of European projects that emphasize cultural exchange and international cooperation.
Current projects:
DATAS
The international project “The Data and the Sovereign” is supported by the Creative Europe programme. MeetFactory is an associate partner of the project and participates through the residency programme.
The initiative explores the impact of artificial intelligence on society, democracy and personal freedoms. The DATAS (The Data and the Sovereign) project combines artist residencies, exhibitions and publications to explore new ways of understanding sovereignty in the digital age. As artificial intelligence increasingly influences our decisions, it raises important questions about how we can protect individual and national sovereignty in a world dominated by surveillance and technology companies that treat people as commodities. This project explores how art can reflect and challenge these power shifts. DATAS highlights artists from Eastern Europe and organises residencies, events and pop-up exhibitions in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Slovenia and Ukraine. The project will culminate in a major international group exhibition at the Rudolfinum in Prague.
SAiR
An international project of four European residency centres supported by the Creative Europe programme, focusing on the sustainability of residency programmes. The aim of the SAiR project is to develop a model of viable residency centre management that promotes sustainable artistic practices and provides career opportunities for artists. MeetFactory is one of the partners of the project, participating through the residency program and is responsible for the preparation of the Sustainability Manual, the content of which will be specific sustainable practices applicable to residency centers in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Other Edges
The Other Edges project deals with the decolonization of power structures behind the dichotomy of centre/periphery. We propose to take a closer look at notions such as “local” and “central” and determine their meaning in post-pandemic European conditions. By strengthening the network of independent NGOs working in the field of contemporary art, the project will become a platform for in-depth artistic research.
Secondary Archive
More than 250 women artists and one platform that gathers statements of women from Central and Eastern Europe. Secondaryarchive.org is an international project that represents three generations of women artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. It aims to help promote, uncover and rediscover women artists and the most valuable phenomena of contemporary art in our region from a woman's perspective. The project was created by the Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation together with international partners, including MeetFactory.
